Guardians of the Galaxy

Not sure if anyone else has seen it or not.

Went on Friday to a matinee with my girls (8 and 10).

Did not pop for the 3D.

A couple of scary parts for them, but they like it a lot.

I thought it was fun and once you get into what it is, it is entertaining.

For me, not on the order of Iron Man or Thor, but good fun.

I'll probably see it tonite, or at the latest Monday.  I would have already gone but I hate to do Fri/Sat openings.

Just got back from seeing it- very good! :thumb:  I actually think it was much better than the plodding, ponderous third Iron Man film.  The cast was terrific, lots of serious actors in some silly roles.  The film is very funny in parts, and very touching in parts.  I'm surprised how much I loved it considering I never cared for most of those characters in the books.  Marvel is on a serious roll lately.

Chris Pratt is an overnight sensation ten years in the making!  He's been the only bright spot of a few really terrible movies and it only seems fitting that he finally gets his star turn.

Highly recommended!

I agree - a very entertaining and fun movie! Even my kids, however, realized they "borrowed" freely from other classic movies. The opening scene is right out of Raiders of the Lost Ark, the villains not only look like the Star Wars villains but have similar story lines and a number of scenes are very similar to Avatar and Star Wars scenes. We talked about it when we got home and decided its just another layer of making fun and we weren't bothered by it. The movie also has great special effects. I hadn't seen a 3D movie in awhile, so maybe they all are very good now-a-days, but I thought the 3D rendering was excellent.  Two thumbs up!

I don't understand why a good guy was the bad guy (Ronan), or why Drax was so depowered. But the comics are kinda patchy for the stories with the Guardians of the Galaxy.

I liked it though. I'm not convinced they stole, so much were willing to be very classic adventure. Let's face it, even Indian Jones stole from someone else.

They were not trying to shove products, actors, or ideology down your throat. The characters weren't so seperate from a regular person that you couldn't connect at all. It just made a very enjoyable movie.

I don't think it lives up to the hype that preceded it but I did find of entertaining. Certainly raises the bar for star wars.

I didn't feel the humor was quite what others did, but I enjoyed it for sure. It felt more fresh to me than many of the other Marvel (and DC) offerings, which was nice.

I watched this movie on an international flight yesterday.  Even though it was on a small screen with poor quality audio I was thoroughly entertained. I am looking forward to seeing it on Blu-Ray hooked up to my sound system and TV.

Funny I thought it was a kids movie based on the talking raccoon in the trailer (ok so maybe it is a kid's movie, but it's not "Kung Fu Panda").  Stuck in an aluminum tube for 12 hours last week was all the motivation I needed to give it a try, and I really enjoyed it.  Funny, good comic book story, good action.  Followed it with the newer Captain America for a Marvel double feature.

Give it a shot and I bet you'll like it.

Watched it last night with a friend, I can't imagine a better movie to start out the New Year. Big, visually dense, funny, action packed with characters that have personality. As always with Marvel films, don't miss the little snippet at the end of the credits.
