I thought this is one of the best movie of the year. My wife thought this was one of the best movie she has ever seen. I'm a fan of Bong Joon-ho. His other two movies 'The Host' and 'Memories of Murder' are some of finest Korean movie ever. The plot line may not have been great, but the direction was superb. It was a breathe of fresh air to see top notch sci-fi post apocalyptic movie outside of typical hollywood stereotype.
Having said that, you might as well hate this movie. My best friend and his entire family hated the movie. It only goes to show that good art polarizes opinion. This is certainly not a mainstream pop corn movie for sure.
Bong Joon Ho?
Now I'm interested to see it. I'll add "Mother" to that list of good movies by him. He seems to find an interesting balance of odd humor and suspense.
" Memories of Murder" is up there with the original " Girl with the Dragon Tattoo".
