Can anybody suggest what they use for banana plugs with their Bryston amps
Had some mono-price but they can pull out too easily.
Looked around a bit but lots of the industrial type aren't plated ie gold to match the amps terminals
Something you can source easily in Ontario, Canada or Canada
Many thanks in advance.

Tyreman      I've been using Cardas for over 25 years with good luck. Had the same bananas for 3 different setups, hope that helps.

Use  to use Cardas,Shunyata ect,
Been using Bryston cables for a few years and the bananas are very good(they stay in)they grip very well.
No desire to change here as have been thru that OMG difference or whatever you want to call it.
What makes it for me is acoustic treatments, cabling is so minor(or insignificant) except for build quality which Bryston is.

FWIW, I use Ultralink locking bananas, which fit perfectly into the 4BSST(C) and 6BSST(C); not cheap, but very well built. The speaker cable twists into the plugs for a secure compression fit; no soldering required. I use them in a biwired system, with 12 gauge/4 conductor Ultralink CL3 (inwall) cable for LF, with the conductors doubled up (that is, twisting two conductors into one strand), as my cable runs are long and I want plenty of copper along the path. For mids and highs, I do the same thing with 14 gauge/4 conductor cable.

You can, in addition, use their industrial-weight spade lugs on the amp terminals if you wish to biwire. I don't see these listed on their site, but I did order them in May 2013 directly from Ultralink in Markham, ON; Lily Luo was very helpful: 905-479-2831.

Here's a dealer that lists the spades, so you can at least see a photo. The speaker cable twists into the connectors for a secure fit. These worked fine with 12 and 14 gauge cable. They are quite thick and have quite a wide span to accommodate thick posts.

Hope this is useful,

Aren't spades better than bananas for instantaneous current transfer from a powerful amp to the speakers?

Hi

With any connection the main concern is to eliminate air from affecting the connection.  Also dissimilar metals can cause problems as well on a molecular level.

If air has access to the connection it can cause the connection to either rectify or act as a diode.

So make the connection as tight as possible and use similar materials as well.  Gold is best as it will not corrode in your lifetime and it is what we use on all our connectors. Also be aware that many connections use what is called "Flash Coatings of Gold" which wear off very quickly. You need a good coating of gold.

Our spades are heavily gold plated and our Bananas are gold plated as well as an internal pin that expands the circumference of the banana pin so you get an airtight fit.
