I am still around here. If you must know, Frank and I got into some "philosophical" differences with design and the future as it relates to AVA, so I thought it be best if I stepped aside. It is difficult to design products when there are distances between parties. I felt that we had grown apart on our opinions of design, and well, everything seemed to shut down on my part.

I feel bad that it happened, but things, over time do change. I have deep respect for Frank and hope him and his crew the best. Sadly, that means no more Longhorns. At least for now.

Sorry to hear the news. Yes the audio world is changing. And the music world is changing. Efficiency, convenience. Home audio systems will be digital and class D based- for those that even use one. Whether technology represents a step forward or a step backward is another matter. I tell the people here at work about Lp records, that I like them best and about cd's versus Mp3 and they think I am absolutely nuts.
The fact is the majority of people are ok with Mp3, even the lower bit rate Mp3's. as well as the low bit rate/substandard audio quality of no pay Pandora, or Spotify streaming (I understand the bit rates go up when you subscribe) and people seem mostly ok with prerecorded concert performances. I feel there is something wrong with this, but that's the world we live in now.
Could you not offer a Longhorn service on your own?

For folks to think that I could simply start making Longhorns, well, that isn't how the business world works. First, I'd probably need to get incorporated, then get a dealership for Grado products. To just make Longhorns, it would not be practical.

I will not make Longhorns for people on the side either, because there is always the danger of damaging the stylus during the process. So it's just not going to happen.

Since I'm getting back into vinyl due to my nephew's interest,we hit a few used record stores in Frederick, Md. My HK T-30C went Tango Uniform, I was looking for something used for temporary duty. Found and bought used BIC 960 for $40.00! That was the first TT I bought in the seventies. I ordered a new Grado Prestige Green 1 cartridge. The cartridge on the T30C was an AVA Grado Longhorn. So since that cartridge was 30 years old, I decided to see if I could remove and install the Longhorn onto the new Grado Green. I just heated the adhesive with a heat gun on high for a few seconds and it popped right off. I cleaned up the bar and installed it on the new cartridge with some JB Weld. It's working perfectly while I listen to a new 180g pressing of Led Zepplin IV with alternate album mix. This should hold me for a while. :hyper:
