We are always looking to add new features and the new Manic Moose firmware will be a big part of that when its officially released in the near future.

Cheers,
Chris

That would be nice, but it is back to the bells and whistle question .
Personally I would like to see a firmware totally stripped for evrything but music playback from HD or thumbdrive  8)

I think the biggest thing about whether or not features disturb sound quality is whether they run resource intensive background processes.

Volumio and RuneAudio have both managed to add a simple Spotify implementation in their mpd distributions.

From the changelog of the latest RuneAudio distro:
http://www.runeaudio.com/changelog/
"Spotify Premium integration through spop"

From volumio:
http://volumio.org/volumio-1-5-best-volumio-audiophile-player-ever/
"That was long awaited. Just insert your Spotify credentials into Settings page (a premium account is required) and there will be no music you can’t listen to. You have full Spotify search and all your playlists listed on the Spotify section of the Browse tab. This amazing feature was made possible thanks to the contribution of Volumio community member ning-you (huge thanks for this) and to an awesome daemon by Schnouki called SPOP. Needless to say, even Spotify’s sound quality sounds impressive on Volumio."

here's the daemon:
https://github.com/Schnouki/spop

As an aside, I had my first evening with my new BPD-2 after messing around with a rasberry pi transport for the last few weeks. Yikes! What a difference.... the pi was noisy, with lots of pops and hiss. The bdp plays music from silence, so that it's almos startling when the songs start.

And the software implementation is far better than I expected. The html5 interface on my blackberry phone (Q10, with small touchscreen) is fantastic with surprising utility.

Thanks!
