I recently replaced the stock HD in a 2009 Mac Mini with a SSD and could clearly hear improvements in sound quality. From what I've learned the type of SSD makes a difference. If you go this route be sure the SSD has a faster transfer time than the stock HD. I'm not knowledgeable enough to give you the specifics but others on the forum may chime in with the details.
