Front virtual BDP-2 buttons
« on: 14 Oct 2014, 11:06 pm »
Since I've gotten the BDP-2 back (from the dredded error 9 code)and connected it to a Surgex unit,
it has worked flawless for not Fn up.
As I usually just use the play lists on the computer(which I CAN )skip to the next song if I want using the COMP/BDP-2.
Today I tried the next, previous on the BDP-2 itself and all it would do is start the song over and won't go to the next track or previous depending which button is pushed, friggin remote does the same thing.
Obvious to me something is F'd in the BDP,would have thought that after the error 9 was fixed that perhaps all that would be checked out.
I doubt it can be fixed remotely or if it can then great, other than that this is really wearing me out back and forth to Ont.
Will call bryston tomorrow just to see,I do feel this on going nonsense should be on this forum to let people know WTF.
Some may think I should keep it between myself and bryston, well I don't think so as this a bryston site and customers shouldn't think that their purchase is the only one has problems.

Hi Don

You have to load the complete folder for the front panel buttons to advance to the next song. There is no problem with the BDP.

Also the front panel is only meant to be a backup - everything is more intuitive and easier to operate using the computer interface.

Hi James,
If I'm thinking right ,if the BDP has been on for awhile(10 min or so)shouldn't I be able to hit next and play the next song(god forbid like a cdp).
The playlist has been on the left side for that long I would think you would be able to do that.
Definitely using the computer is Showtime,I ASSUMED I could use her like a cdp( I only used it this once using the front panel)and remote and that's what I got.
True if I hit NEXT on the computer I get the next song or hit previous I get previous ect.
Doesn't make sense to me that if the playlist has been there for a bit that you can't go next or previous.
She is what she is I guess,at lest since the Surgex its been great,I just thought I'd go neanderthal and hit some buttons(JOKE)jeeez.
THX James.

Hi Don

No the front panel works differently than the computer interface. The front panel does not load songs as a playlists. It loads the folder then you use play to start the first song in the folder then forward arrow for next song.

It is a little difficult I agree to navigate.  I find the front panel is good for showing you what song is playing but beyond that I much prefer the computer interface.
