Recently caught the end of a spot on TV that showed how audio tubes are made by hand.  Yes, real craftsmanship.

Nice video, but its a waste of time and resources to do ham tubes, there is various excellent tubes in this area, some even sport a 25 years life spam for a low cost.

I wonder why this gentleman dont are doing 300Bs or other extinct audio tube.

Great video, jay. Thanks for sharing the link.

Sorry, FRM: This is far from "a waste of time and resources."

Rather, Mr. Paillard is being absolutely true to the Ham Ethos.

His ability to scratch-build as much of his kit as possible is not something to squander, and is a perishable skill to be kept fresh.

Do you mean say he made only this ham tube?

FRM, How much would you be willing to pay for a 300b made by Claude?

Fascinating video. I hope he passes his knowledge on to younger generations.

From watching the video, he made far more than a single tube.

And much of the gear he used with the tubes looked like nicely done Home Brew.

Do you mean say he made only this ham tube?

If I had a 300B amp only $100 each, it was what I pay for a NGG, more than it is boutique.

I wasn't so concerned with  what  tube he was making,  just the fact that he was doing it and taking his hobby to the next level , thought it was cool  8)
OTOH, it would be interesting to know  what "flavours " he makes

Did any of you catch the Mullard video (about the Blackburn factory)   in the right colum ?

Fun to watch that. I was impressed by his homemade special tools, like the annealing oven, the vacuum pump, the special pliers for glass working, the welder, the induction heater. Eventually the milling machine was revealed, the one machine that can make every other tool in the shop.
