You should at least hear the amp. It might blow your socks off.

I don't know how the scratches got on the top plate as it was mint when I sent it back to Paul.

I too have not heard the amp as I had to send it back for repair. It's supposed to be world class gear.

I've a TRL ST 100 up for sale. This amp has a dimension of approximately 23" x 21" x 12". I'm the second owner, the original owner played it less than 50 hours before it developed some sort of transformer issue. So, it was sent back to Paul for transformer replacement. And I bought it directly from Paul few months ago. However, I haven't gotten a chance to hear the amp yet as I was waiting for my speakers to be built in the mean time. The amp is now with a technician who is swapping the dueland caps for Jupiter and upgrading the power supply capacitors.
Why didn't you have Paul upgrade the capacitors when it was with TRL?   Paul buys in bulk so cost will be lower.

Paul didn't have any Jupiter when I bought it from him. He had put duelands in it.

I've removed the classified. I've been hesitant given the size of the amp. My living room is small and it doesn't fit on any rack and takes up quite a bit of floor space in my small living room. But I should really listen to the amp. Hopefully I can convince my wife in keeping it.

Ronny, Paul mentioned the scratches before he shipped it to me. So it must have happened either when you shipped it to him or during the amp was in TRL possession.

I can garrentee that it was mint when boxed up.

My guess is that U.S. customs scratched it. I have had customs inspect other stuff and damaged it.

Glad you are going to try it. I only wish I could have.

Replacing Duelunds with Jupiter?  Really?

Good decision in keeping it and best of luck.    Paul makes special stuff.   Start a new thread and keep us posted on your progress.

You are not selling it after listening to it.   Don't forget to ask the wife to join you.   :D   BTW, what speakers are you getting?

My wife enjoys good sound quality. So, I'm hopeful. :) I got a brand new Daedalus Athena V.2 that needs to be broken in. I used to have a Ulysses but sold it as I've moved to a smaller place. I'm going to use Lampizato level 7 dac with volume control. It has the potential to be the system I can live with for a long time. :D I am yet to settle on a good digital source/server though.
