My latest TT project..

I got this TD160 Super from Dave at Vinyl Nirvana and added my trusty RB301 arm and a new Goldring 1042 cart.  The plinth is solid cherry fabricated by my Amish cabinet maker.  I am playing it thru an old Forte FP1 phono stage and it sounds very very good.  I hope you enjoy the photos..

Beautiful turntable, looks better than when the TD160 was new.  I had a TD160 back in the days with the Thorens tone arm.  IMHO, the Amish are some of the best cabinet makers/craftsman.

Agreed -- those Vinyl Nirvana revived Thorens are lovely to behold. I occasionally think I need one but then I realize that want and need are not always the same. So you had a special plinth built for this Gavin? Now you just need (want?) to add an SME arm.....so how does it compare to your Rega?

Hi es347.
Your Rega RB301 does not look liked my Rega RB301,
you did modifications to it?
Can I get a closer look at your arm or may I know what you did to it?

Patrick...it sounds just about as good in fact my tech thinks it images better.

Guy...the counterweight has been replaced with the one from Groovetracer.  Otherwise stock..

Good to know -- As a former Rega owner I like the company's products but those old Thorens are just so much easier on the eye. So what was the motivation for a second table? I only as as what once seemed beyond sensible in my house (two turntables???) now seems almost inevitable, LOL.
