For Sale: Kenwood KT-917 tuner
« on: 11 Apr 2014, 01:45 pm »
I've had this unit for many years and I'm only the second owner. It has been very well cared for and has been refurbished by Stereo Surgeons in Connecticut. It is FM only and carries an excellent reputation for sound and reception. This tuner has no lights in the dial but otherwise shows as new. The adjustable output was disabled long ago. Not sure why that was done but it has never mattered to me. I just use the fixed outputs. It's an elite product from the golden age of FM tuners. Selling for $650.

Time to booomp this ad. Doesn't anyone have an interest in FM anymore? Even here in the far western reaches of the Colorado wilderness I am able to find worthwhile radio. Surely the many of you who reside in culture laden urban regions can justify such a purchase. The Kenwood KT 917 ranks well up there in the pantheon of best tuners. And this one is so fine you know. A real gem it is.

Do yourselves a favor and give this unit the consideration it has so well earned. I'm certain it would be an upgrade for a good many of you. The secret lies in public radio which is generally not as compressed and manipulated as its commercial counterparts further up the dial. Just listen to the announcers voice. If it sounds natural, then you've bought a good tuner and selected a quality station. Cheers!

Time for another gentle bump. I really thought that this would go first. The tuner is somewhat rare. It's in very good condition, and it's been completely refurbed at a cost of around $500. I've got a receipt to prove it.

The only negative I could raise about this unit is its size. They made them big back then. If you have space, however, you will find this to be an excellent value.

Bump again.
If FM matters to you and you live in a place with excellent broadcast options, this tuner represents an excellent value. Sound is one of the best.
