Hovland RIP
« on: 29 Aug 2009, 09:57 pm »
Just read on Stereophile's website the announcement of Hovland calling it quits.  Hopefully someone will pick up and continue their capacitor business, it would be a shame to see that go away.

Hovland Calls it Quits

Sad, sad, sad. The poor economy is killing my beloved manufacturers. Hovland caps were the first caps I had ever soldered with when I modified my original SFL-1.  George Wright passes away and Hovland is now going out of business.

Sorry for the rant.

What gives?

Anand.

There was an extra slash on the end that shouldn't have been there.  Thanks for posting that diyaudio link......I had missed that one previously.  A good read.  :)

When I first started in business, Bob Crump got Hoveland in contact with me. We had a nice conversation and they arranged for some outlets. They seemed eager to try new things. Most of what I read in the article is news to me. I am aware of others who believe in resistor orientation and board layout importance. A number of people claim direction for fuses. The dowsing deal is hard for me to swallow.
