Actually most of the time any computer that can run Internet Explorer, Chrome, or Firefox does everything you'll ever need for course work that is online. It's the typing papers in specific formats that is a PITA. Like Turabian... Word is often the best way. But Libre and other free programs can do it, you just have to teach yourself from the internet as TA's may not know.
