Anyone running an AES Super Amp Mk2?

As the title says, I'm curious about people's experience is with the AES super Amp mk2. If so, what tweaks have you made, if any? Do you like ultra linear mode or triode best? What tubes and caps have you tried / liked best? Thanks! :thumb:

I have a AES Super amp. I didn't know there was a mk2 version. I just thought there were different mods to the amp like the switch for triode mode that you mention and replacing the caps with Jensen oil caps. Mine is completely stock. It sounds great to me. Those are very powerful 25 watts a channel. They don't seem to get much attention even though they got good reviews....

Due to the success of the original Super Amp, which you have, Dennis created the mk2. Google it. It is 40 wpc in ultra linear mode (from the factory). In the manual are instructions on how to rewire it for triode mode, which is 20 wpc, but an even "truer" sound.

Anyone? Surely someone else here has experience with this nice little amp? I'm enjoying it quite a bit in stock form, but I think it has even more potential. I'm thinking Clarity MR input caps would be great. Any opinions?

I recently posted on Tube DIY Asylum asking the question what can be done to the AES Super amp (original) and  Michael Sumra gave a pretty comprehensive description of what can be done and describes what he feel is wrong about the original design. He is also capable of doing the work should you want it done. I have no connection with Michael just an admirer of his work and knowledge.....

Interesting, but the Super Amp mk2 is almost a completely different amp than the original. The 2 really only share the brand and name, from everything I've gathered. Thanks for the info, though. Maybe Michael Sumra has some insight and/or experience with the mk2.
