Vintage Sherwood S-5000 II professionally restored by Ken Leonard of AEA Audio. The amp was restored to Gold Level status in February 2016. I have owned since early March 2016. I contacted Ken in regards to purchasing a Sherwood vintage amp and all he had was one that had some surface pitting on the internal chassis and engraved ID numbers across the top front edge. Ken offered a return policy so I took him up on it. The amp arrived a few days later and there were some ware issues as he explained. But when installed in my system I was blown away at what I was hearing. The amp is 32w a channel and drove my 88db monitors with no trouble. The sound is sweet and clear with great imaging, sound stage, and is dead quiet! It can also be used as a straight 2 channel amp by easily bypassing the integrated preamp section. Plug your own preamp into the MON Input, flip the Monitor switch to ON and listen. Compair the two sections by flipping the MONITOR switch back and forth to decide what you like best. The preamp section of the Sherwood is no slouch which I soon learned.
