Pro model amplifiers can be rack mounted with different dress panel styling than consumer models. They also have an attenuator (gain control) on the back panel that the consumer models do not have  :thumb:

Interesting , What does the gain control do . or how what is it used for . BTW i just bought my first Bryston Preamp today . It is the BP5 . It is twenty years old . It is really rough looking . Does not have a detachable power cord . Cost me a whopping $420 . And you know what ? It is the best damn preamp i have ever heard in my system . Just sold a $7,000 Marantz recently . Smokes that . Time to move up the chain after one day of owning the BP5 ! What's next ? BP 20 or BP 25 ?

The top of the line Bryston pre-amps are the BP-20, BP-25 and BP-26.  The 20 was the first out and the 25 and 26 are the subsequent models.  I own the 25 and it suits me just fine but the 26 is the latest model.  You can get a 25 with a fair amount of warranty left for $1,000 to $1,100 and the 26 is at least twice that much.  I was trying to manage the cost of my system so I went with a 4Bsst and BP-25 and saved a boat load over the most recent models.  I am sure I gave up some performance but I really enjoy what I have.

Glad you like your new Bryston gear.

Good Listening,
Mike

I also have a BP-20 in a second system, and it is a very good preamp. The only difference to the BP-25 is the remote control capability that the 25 has.
The 26, I expect it to be better, being a current top of the line model, although I haven't personally listened to it.
Best

I started my Bryston journey with the BP5. Much finer than the Adcom I had. Moved on to the BP25 and never looked back.....much smoother with greater detail and dynamics. These are small but significant refinements ....Welcome to the fold. :thumb:
