This Pioneer SX-1050 has been completely restored by an experienced and qualified technician specializing in vintage audio.
Cosmetic condition:
As with any vintage audio gear, there are a few minor scratches and scuffing. There are a few small dings and scuffing visible on the top front. [see photos] There are some paint scratches on the bottom panel. The new walnut cover is beautiful.
Functional condition:
1) All new electrolytic capacitors selected for high-performance in each circuit. Some electrolytic caps were upgraded to film caps in selected circuits to enhance fidelity.
2) Semiconductors upgraded with new parts in selected areas
3) Tuner board has been restored, upgraded and aligned
4) All controls, faceplate, knobs, switches, RCA jacks cleaned
5) New relays installed
6) Power output transistors have been removed, cleaned, and re-seated with new compound.
Everything functions as it should. FM and AM reception is clear. RCA jacks are in like-new condition. AM ferrite antenna is in perfect condition.
This receiver includes the following upgrades:
* All three stock FM IF filters have been replaced with four swept and matched parts. Additional IF amp has been added for improved clarity, signal sensitivity and strength.
* Advanced LED retrofit replaces all incandescent lamps. New model-specific LED illumination kit (3 PC boards) have been installed with LEDs matching the warmth and glow of original lamps. No more lamps to replace!! [see photos]
* New, precision-cut, solid walnut cover (not veneer) with matching end caps replaces original cover. Hand-rubbed Tung oil finish. All original pioneer covers are plywood and veneer. After 40-years the glue joints are brittle and crack. This cover is no longer offered.
