This is a John Hogan built 5U4/6SN7/76/300B single ended triode stereo amplifier.   This unit uses vintage Webster output transformers and power transformer.  It has dual volume controls (one for each channel) and hum pots for the output tubes.  In typical John Hogan fashion, this is really an integrated amp because it has a 6SN7 preamp stage (SRPP configuration) and volume controls, so it can be used with a single source, such as a CD player, without the need for a preamp.  It uses AC filament heating, is tube rectified and has an IEC power cord input, so you can fool with different cords if you want.  No power cord is included.   It is a tube rollers dream in that it is sensitive to tube selection.  The chassis is from an old organ amp and yes, that is real profession grade black duct tape.

There are lots of discussions about John Hogan’s amps on the SET area of Audio Asylum, including some by John himself before he passed away in 2006.  Suffice it to say that he found a way to use the chassis and transformers from 1940’s organ amplifiers to create wonderful sounding SET amps.  John only made about 150 amps.

I think the combination of the 76 tube with its smooth richness mates well with the 300B, and is an excellent choice for a driver.
The tubes in the photos are not included in this sale.

The price does not include tubes.  I will provide a full set of tubes for an additional $200.  Here are the tubes would be provided:

Tungsol 5U4G

Pair Tungsol mouse ear 6SN7GT’s

Pair Tungsol 76’s

Pair  (Chinese, Psvane Hi vacuum) 300B’s

If the buyer is interested, I could include other 76’s and 300B’s for a reasonable additional price as part of the package deal.  The additional tubes will only be sold as part of the package.

The amp weights 38 lbs. without the tubes and measures 21” x 11” X 10” with the tubes.  The amp will be properly packed and shipped Fedex Ground at 53 lbs. and the tubes will be shipped USPS Priority mail for about $25, both insured.   Buyer pays shipping.

I am asking $1,750 for the amp without tubes, and $1,950 with the tubes.    This is a rare opportunity to purchase a real audio jewel.  Please add 3% for use of Paypal or use Paypal e-check with no charge.   Please email me if you have questions.
