I have moved my Odyssey Kismet Reference Floorstanding speakers  into my large home office upstairs.  Presently I am using a tube preamp and a 175wpc Classe amp.  I want to simplify the system and will be purchasing a Rogue Audio Cronus Magnum integrated amp which puts out 100wpc with the KT120 output tubes.  My speakers are rated at 6 ohms.  I am unsure if I should use the 4 or 8 ohm taps?  I have to remove the top cover of the amp and move a couple of jumpers to change the impedance, so I would rather do this just once rather than experiment.  Anyone?

Also, what is Klaus's email?  I don't think the one on the web site is accurate.  If anyone knows, could you please pm it to me?

Thanks...............

I did miss something!

Sorry, i guess you will have to experiment with it.

I would start with the 4 ohm taps, most speakers drop below their rated impedance at some frequency. Sounds like a pain to experiment but it's worth the trouble. I once had a McIntosh MC275 on loan and at the time had Vandersteen 3A sigs, I had been running them on the 4 ohm tap and after rearranging things inadvertently used the 8 ohm outputs. I thought at first I'd killed my friends amp, it was that drastic. It may not be as drastic with the Kismet and the Rogue but trying both is worth the effort.

Go with the 4 Ohm; the switch is not hard at all.  Also, if your Cronus is more than a couple of years old, Rogue is selling a replacement chip for the remote control that makes it move in smaller increments. Easy to install and you can do it now that you have the top off.
