What would you change/add on/to your WT Amadeus?

I would have:

a) Pillar device for VTA adjustment while playing.

b) Cup device for damping adjustment while playing.

c) 12" tonearm.

d) Motor speed adjustment screw on TOP of the chassis, not at the rear.

e) Separate rear metal plates for signal outputs/ground and motor power input (as in Simplex).

f) Signal ground not connected to chassis ground.

g) Choice of XLR/5 PIN/RCA outputs.

h) Accessible from above Allen screw for (eventual and unlikely)  cartridge alignment .

i) Option of "Baltic" plywood plinth (as in Versalex).

j) Improved, dedicated power cable between the DPS/ Amadeus motor.

Dear Mr Firebaugh and Mr Denson, I'd gladly pay for any of the above. Notwithstanding the fact that the Amadeus is already a benchmark in analogue.

More ideas?

adjustable feet.

feet that don't get flat spots over time.

better belt system.

azimuth that doesn't drift.

spindle that doesn't loosen when the room gets hot.

better way to center the golf ball in the tub.

45rpm switching without moving the belt.

Ability to easily swap cartridges. (removeable armwands a la Moerch?)

Monolithic arm design with the headshell molded into the arm tube at Mr. F's optimum angle. Get that little single mounting screw out of the equation.

+1 for adjustable feet and 45rpm switching without moving the belt.

+1 on all the above, and

Markings on arm pillar for height adjustment
Arm cue lever
Dust cover
Toolless speed adjustment
Either auto 45 rpm switching, or sturdier belts

a free packet of them things for cleaning the wax out of your ears with every turntable. Cheapest upgrade I ever came across particularly if the top end sounds a bit rolled off. Highly recommended as the old wax does tend to accumulate. :D

Better belt. Sick of these breaking.

Also some clear line on the damping cup to show how much should be put in....that took me a while to fine tune. Not to mention maybe some markings to gauge VTA with and ball depth.

Of course, if you could fine tune damping and vta while playing you wouldn't need absolutely fixed markings. But I see what you mean. I change damping (by tweaking cup height) and vta regularly on the fly, and its a world of difference.

By the way, I've added a new item on the my list of Amadeus additions/changes: it's a better power cable between the DPS- Amadeus motor.

That last line was the best fix...  Made a new piece, and much longer between DPS and table, mostly so I could place the DPS lower on my rack, yet it yielded a sonic improvement.
