Joni Mitchell at HDTracks
« on: 3 Jan 2014, 08:35 pm »
Hey guys - was reading the latest Tone online and saw a mention of a cleaned up version of Joni's "Hissing of Summer Lawns" album on HDTracks.  Downloaded it immediately.  The mix sounds the same from what I recall, and I've listened to this a good deal over the years, but it's really cleaned up.  Not flat sounding like the LP or CDs.  Fuller with a broader, deeper dimension to it.  Lots more definition.

If you're a Joni fan, you'll really like this version.

Have a great year everyone!

IMO this is also true for Miles of Aisles, Don Juan's..., and Court and Spark.

Just heard this at whiner's house and it is a real improvement.  So much more enjoyable and the treble is a ton smoother.  You'll like this!

Hmmm, haven't heard that in a long time.  I read once that "...Hissing..." was an early inspiration for Prince, of all musicians.

True jmim,

Prince mentioned his admiration for "Hissing" in a Rolling Stone interview back in the 80's. Because of that, I gave the album a try and now it's my favorite Joni album and one of my favorite albums period.

And I agree that the HDTracks version is very nice.
