For Sale - Van Alstine Synergy 450 Amplifier
« on: 21 Dec 2013, 01:37 am »
S/N 072012A, purchased new by me in July, 2012.  No operational issues.  I see two cosmetic issues: a small paint flaw on the top, and a pushed in area of the fine fins at the side of one of the heat sinks.  I have glued back on the plastic cap of one of the binding posts.  Original box, manual, and power cord.  Box is 24 1/2 x 18 1/2 x 10 1/2 inches, and shipping weight is 40 pounds.  $1,450.00, plus shipping, from ZIP 18661.  Your choice as to ship to you, or to Van Alstine for inspection and testing.

Can you PM me your phone number? A friend of mine might be interested, but his internet is down.

Why the sale:

Van Alstine shows this model as being stable in to 2 ohm loads, which is what I required for a pair of loudspeakers that I no longer have in service.   These are  the D'Appolito designed Thor, a tower MTM that uses SEAS drivers.   The magnesium cone LF drivers used do require a notch filter and, as I was later informed, there is a sharp downward impedance spike at the notch frequency.   See www.madisound.com for driver and crossover specs.   This pair of speakers will be shown For Sale when I get my camera fixed, or get my hands on one that works.   As a heads-up: these cabinets were custom built, with walls 1 1/2 inches thick.
