Sure, but be aware that support for Windows XP from MS will be discontinued in April 2014, meaning no future security updates, etc -- nada. This is not good for any machine connected to the internet, for obvious reasons.
I'm finally going to have to replace my venerable old Dell XP machine, too.
This is the most important post in this thread and one that is very likely going to cause all sorts of hell come mid April. What most folks don't seem to think about is that the bad guys are almost certainly saving up their worse XP exploits until after April 8 when MS stops releasing patches for XP. At that point if they release them, and they will, it will be open season on XP users who use the internet, which is most of them.
Like others in this thread, I suggest giving it some Linux love, there are distros that will run very well on older hardware. XP will keep running after support stops but IMO you should not go out on the web or use email with it. Bad things will happen.
