$999. Local Only (Chadds Ford, PA).

Although I really like these speakers, I am looking at another set of large speakers and don't have room for both pairs.

These are the highly desirable industrial split version of the La Scalas.

Physically, there are some small nicks and rubbing of the cabinets, but they are structurally sound and solid. There is also one screw missing from the faceplate of the tops of one of the units. None of these minor issues affect operation in any way. The physical issues could easily be touched up, but I simply have not seen the need to change anything from the shape in which I received them.

Operationally they sound great.

I have never opened them up for inspection, but I believe the drivers and internal electronics are original. The person I originally purchased them from represented that they had been fully checked prior to that sale, but I cannot verify that. The sound quality, however, would seem to bear that representation out.

The internal crossover works just fine, but I have been using them biamped with an external crossover (Marchand XM-9 with upgraded attenuators and op amps). While that external crossover is NOT included in the price, and is NOT for sale separately, I am willing to make it available for an upcharge of $450 with the purchase of the speakers.

Offers may be considered on the speakers (or speaker/X-over combo), but it is unlikely that I will move off this price for the foreseeable future. I will, however, be more open to offers if combining this with other items I have listed, or that I otherwise have for sale, including (but not limited to) a 2A3 parallel push pull set of monoblocks, a Tice Power Block + Titan combo, a really nice Hafler DH-110 and various vacuum tubes.

I can provide additional pictures or info on request.

GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Please note that these speakers are being sold 'AS IS'.

I am willing to demo, which I would recommend prior to purchase.

Cash is always welcome for a local transaction. Payment can also be via money order/cashier's check/personal check preferred but, except for US Postal Money Orders, all must clear my bank first.

I also accept Paypal for convenience, but add 3% to use Paypal. IF YOU PAY VIA PAYPAL, HOWEVER, A CONDITION OF YOUR PAYMENT IS THAT YOU EXPRESSLY WAIVE THE RIGHT TO FILE A PAYPAL CLAIM OR CHARGE BACK (but do retain the right to sue me in court should you so desire).

Please check my feedback on Audiogon, Videogon and Ebay (ID=baileyler) and buy with confidence.

Baileyler,

Sir, if you have not yet sold those LaScala Splits, then you are in possession of my dream speakers. I have been trying to get my hands on a pair of those for 5 years, I once came close but getting the funds came 2 weeks too late and someone else got them. I do live sound for bands in a variety of venues/outside situations, I also have a home theater that I actually set up my live sound speakers in. The only reason I have a home theater and even know what one is is because of a friend of mine that likes to invite me to his HT, he has a pair of klipschorns with a cornwall center and 3D projection, and many other speakers and subs, listening in his living room is amazing and awe inspiring, with the right source material anyway. I have since been a true Horn technology lover, having missed the la scala splits a few years ago, I ended up getting a pair of Turbosound TMS-1 speakers (3-way horns) and have been very happy with thier performance  :D I use a driverack 260 and Smaart to get them gelling, but thier 60 degree horizontal pattern can be tuff to work with, I'd like 2 on each side of the stage, but it's near impossible to find another pair.
Here's a pic of them

The subs are OHM MR450D 18inch subs, another great london hifi company. This shows that I am not afraid of 1980's horn tech and am in fact a big fan of it!

Anyways, back to the Splits, I would really like to buy them from you, and I live in Pennsylvania, but there are a couple issues that will make it tough. One, I live in Warren, PA which is 5.5 hours drive from Chadds Ford (why does this state have to be so big), I am willing to drive it for those speakers but not in the blizzard we're having this week. The second problem is money, This is not the best time of year for me to come up with a grand, Christmas is almost here and all, I'm driving the Fam to Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow. It makes me want to cry just looking at the beautiful pics of those La Scala Splits

Please let me know if you still have those and if so are there interested party's involved, what is in the realm of possibility here. There is almost no way I could get there before the new year and I would have to do the drive when the weather is right, I can't crash a van over speakers  but I would be willing to make a deposit/200 dollar payments or something like that, I mean, I would quit drinking beer to save the money for those speakers if that's what I had to do, I know just exactly what those speakers are capable of and it is amazing! Please let me know of thier whereabouts, Thanks!

Steve

Steve,

Sold them about 2 weeks ago to a guy who needed a second pair.  He is in the DJ end of the business, and had also been looking for quite a while.

Apparently the splits at a decent price are tough to come by.

Thanks for letting me know, I'm not surprised as those are awesome speakers! It is good to know that if I keep my eyes open, I may just find myself a pair some day. Happy holidays to you and your family, thanks,

Steve
