Tick Tock....

I just came across a great deal on a pair of Marten Design Momento's ($170K list) that I have heard before at CES 4 years ago.  I had heard them with very good solid state amps. At the time, we had joked about having to sell a house to afford a pair, but I actually very recently had then offered to me for only 2/5 of a house (depending on location, of course).  Still a very big number, but progress.... Incredible speakers, but too big a monetary risk if they don't work as well in my room as the VSAs, especially with my tubed amps.

The phrase "when it rains, it pours" comes to mind... It will be interesting to see what else crosses my path in the next 90 days or so, especially since I'm no longer "looking".  :o

Martens would be used.  My VR-9SE Mk2's will be new.

Well there's a pair of 9SE's on the 'Gon now for $40k....but they are in Spain. Just in case you can't wait.....(speaking of which, I'm still waiting on my 5 Anni II upgrade since Sept.....)

Patrick - Thanks for the heads up.  I don't think the wait will bother me too much.  I had no amps all summer as they were being upgraded, so I had NO SOUND.  THAT bothered me :duh:!!

Currently, my system sounds considerably better than it ever has, and I will keep the 7's for as long as possible during the 9's build time.. In fact, I may even keep them untill I get the 9's, if I can, to avoid any additional stress to the situation. :thumb:  I'm really getting tired of black speakers, but I'm sure I'll survive until the 9's show up.

In addition, thee are enough significant differences between the SE and the SE Mk2 versions of the 9's to make the Mk2 2s the obvious choice.  I am finished with speaker modification for the near future - they are a real PITA.  The results with my 7's are nothing short of amazing compared to how they originally came to me, which makes me very happy.

Your Anni upgrade will be well worth the wait, as all VSA's upgrades usually are.  Are you filling in with some other speakers while you wait?

Yep -- have a pair of Bryston Mini-T's in right now. Mini by name, not by nature, that's for sure.  What do you plan to do with your 7s when the time comes....enquiring minds want to know :)

I'll sell them to a good home, of course. :D  Probably to a VSA aficionado who will appreciate the $15K in upgrades alone and be willing to take my speakers at around the time my 9's are ready.  This person will be getting a great deal in return for their timing considerations.  I will probably also be including those amazing and highly machined Track Audio points that couple the bass modules to the floor. (they have been the subject of discussion on this forum).

If you know anybody....... :D

Well you know...if I hadn't already paid for the Anni II upgrade I might be having such thoughts, but I am sure there are others here who will really want your 7s....right guys?

Thanks for the support Patrick - I really appreciate it. :D  BTW, 7's now sound about 10x better than what you heard several years ago. :D

I will entertain serious offers starting now for delivery in about 3 months. My intent is to have them sold well before 3 months - please shoot me a message if interested and convince me why I should sell them to you.  Thank you.
