Welcome to our new Circle, dedicated to the great speakers made by Richard Vandersteen and company.

I hope that owners will post success stories, questions, etc., and that others will offer their thoughts and ask questions.  I'll today repost my pics, etc.  WARNING--I tend to gush; if my writings get too long for you, just don't read it all.   :?

As moderator, I ask all to be polite.

Let 'er rip!

I've been in that room and heard many versions of that system. Always great sounds there. To The Gentleman From Verona, thank you!!

Had a wonderful time at Audio Connection this past week with John Rutan and Mr.Ed. We listened to the 5's, 7's and 3A Sigs. All were wonderful and cut from the same cloth. The 7's were just breathtaking in the back room with ARC power. The sound stage was insanely deep and the speakers vanished. Nils Lofrgren Solo Live was uncanny. I had not heard that before and was really something special. Also James Cotton's "Down At Your Buryin" from Deep In The Blues was spooky.
We also went upstairs and heard the 3A Sigs with an all Cary set up. The 200.2 amp went up against Pass Labs and Bryston and was the the clear winner over all. Anybody heard this amp? Really remarkable solid state offering from Cary. Really made the 3A Sigs sit up and bark with huge dynamics. I own those speakers myself and was really impressed with this amps synergy with them.
Also while there, Richard Vandersteen phoned and I had a nice conversation with him about the music biz, the economy, etc. Very nice man and a lot of fun to talk to. Nice experience to be listening to a product line all afternoon and then speak to the designer on the phone by chance.
Of course John Rutan was a gracious and fun host, really having a good time talking about audio and answering all my questions about different important speakers in audio history. Very informative indeed. There's no place like Audio Connection that I've experienced that's a real place to hang out and immerse yourself in the hobby.

: Biwiring Vandersteens.
I have a pair of Treos on order. This is my first pair of Vandersteens. I'm a little concerned about no binding posts and the speaker screw strip. I have a pair of Audience AU 24 speaker cables that I will have reterminate to the mini size spade lugs. My options are buy another additional pair of AU24 that retails at $1700 for three meters or sell my existing AU24 and purchase and a new pair that's already bundled as single run but split at the speaker end for a biwire or look at a differant speaker wire that works well with Vandersteens. I am wondering  if Vandersteens sound better with completely separated runs for biwiring? Any other speak wire recommendations that well with Vandersteens would be appreciated.
Thanks

Vangelis, one goal of biwiring is separating the magnetic fields created by the hi- and lo-frequency signals.  Using a wire that has all conductors wound together does not achieve that goal.  If you LOVE the sounds of your cables, I suggest you have your cables reterminated with small spades AND integral jumpers.  Otherwise I suggest one of the Audioquest Flatrock-series cables.  The Flatrocks are a 'single' cable but have the hi- and lo-frequency bundles physically separated.  A less-expensive AQ version of that kind of cable is Rocket88.  R88 and all the Flatrocks use the DBS system.

I use AQs' direct-silver-over-copper spades.  The #10-screw spades are available to accommodate up to 10g. or 14g. conductors.  I have some extras if you want some inexpensively.  E-mail me at jeffreybehr@cox.net if you're interested or have questions.

New to the forum. I have been a Vandersteen owner and fan for 20 years, although I remain at the bottom of the food chain.

Really looking forward to hearing the Treos. I will read with curiosity to see what amps people are using with theirs.

Cheers,

Mark

Not sure if anyone reads this forum anymore, but I met John and am doing business with him.  I attended the Vandersteen event he had last week and was blown away.  WOW is all I can day for the sound of all the Vandy's.  It's totally different from what it was years ago when I ended up with a bunch of Proacs, that I'm now sellin through John at Audio Connection.  If anyone has interest in those, get in touch with John or me, lol.

The Treo's are what I"m aiming for.  I think that price point was nailed by Vandersteen.I've heard nearly everything from 20k down.  Love them with Ayre gear.
