Target is offering a minimum of $200 for any generation iPad for the week of Nov 3.  They also have the iPad air 16GB for $479.  So turned in my iPad original and picked up an iPad air fir $279.

You do not need to purchase another iPad to get the $200 target gift card.  Trade in you old iPad and get a $200 target gift card.

Real tempting.  If anyone trades in a iPad3 16GB please let me know what the trade in value was.

I am tempted.  What hurts is that I have a Zaggfolio which I really like.  Apple keeps changing dimensions on new iPads.  That means I would have to buy a new Zaggfolio when they become available.

jtwrace,

Thanks.  For some reason the offer was only $170 for a fully functional iPad3 16GB with no damage.

What is an electronics card?  In-store payment comes in the form of an "Target electronics card".

For the $75-100 I would get for an original 64GB WiFi iPad I'd rather keep it.

I went to my local Target 'mobile' store Monday with my original version Ipad, predating even before cellular service was an option, 64gb, and received the $200 off on a new Ipad air....

What's the best way to buy an older Ipad?  I only plan to use it for Jremote, Oppo remote and simple web browsing.  I check Craigs list occasionally and people ask stupid, near retail amounts for these things.

I traded in my 1st generation Ipad 16 GB Wifi this afternoon, and received a $200 trade in card which I just realized is not the same thing as a Target gift card.  I got the last trade in card at my local Target and there were several people in line behind me who were pretty frustrated about them running out.  I would call your local Target first to see if they are still offering the trade in.

I just tried buying an Ipad Air on the Target website since they are out of stock in the store, but the website wouldn't accept the trade in card as a gift card.  You need to use it as a credit card, but the problem is, you can only apply one credit card for each purchase.  Therefore, you can only purchase something that costs $200 or less with the trade in card on the website.

My options are to wait until the product is back in stock at a local Target, or I'm going to try and purchase a regular Target gift card with the trade in card.  That way I can use the gift card for an online purchase and pay the remaining balance with a credit card.  Just thought I'd share in case anyone plans to trade in their old Ipad and needs a replacement right away.  It looks like you may need to jump through a few hoops unless your local Target store has the model you want in stock.
