SOLD: Channel Islands Audio D100 Monoblocs
« on: 1 Aug 2013, 07:54 am »
REDUCED $200... Now a flat $600.  (This is the AC price.  I now have them listed on Audiogon for $640.)

These are Dusty Vawter's D100 Monoblocs for less than 40 PERCENT of the original purchase price 0F $1600. This is $1200 LESS than the current listing at the CIA website. The Channel Islands Audio website, even with the upgraded model, still quotes the same reviews I do below. These reviews are for the original D100 Monoblocs that I am offering. They were good then. They still are now. Dusty would not cite these reviews otherwise. No PayPal charges. Split shipping costs for 30LBS from 96825. Shipped in the original packaging.

These D100s provide 100w into 8 ohms, 200w into 4 Ohms. These amps are bullet proof -- thanks to Dusty Vawter's experience as the former Manager of Customer Service for Audio Alchemy. He has designed his Channel Islands products with dependability in mind. These amps have had no problem driving my 87 dB 4 Ohm MTM towers. And they run cool.

According to Tone Audio, “These Class-D Monoblocs are small and chunky in size, but they have tons of “dynamic capability and very powerful, controlled bass.” They’re also versatile and played well with almost any speaker we could throw at them. Ultimately we felt that the D-100s had big performance, quality and value in a compact package.”  Stereomojo give them their Specific Recommendation saying, “Dusty Vawter's Channel Island D-100 Monoblocs are recommended to all audiophiles looking to upgrade from a lesser mid-fi receiver or integrated amp or even a similarly priced separates system. Their small size, 100wpc and lack of heat emission is ideal for smaller rooms and apartments. Their relatively low price and high level of performance make them more than just an attractive value, they are an outright steal.”

Wes Phillips’ and John Atkinson’s opinions can be viewed here:  http://www.stereophile.com/solidpoweramps/805cia/index.html.

From the pictures you can see that these amps could have been purchased earlier this year.  I am letting them go due to a system upgrade.

Original purchase price was $1599.  Audiogon Bluebook lists them for $1260.

Price reduced from $1050 to $800. I hope these aren't destined for Audiogon.

Tempting ... very tempting but then something else would have to go.  ( it's a vicious cycle this audio hobby is).

If I am not mistaken you are now a member of AC for a bit less than a year.  This continual trading, hawking, and juggling of hardware only gets worse.  My job is to make this as easy for you as possible.... so that I can do more juggling.

These amps originally came with either 26 or 32 dB gain. Do you know the gain setting on your amps? And how about the input connectors? RCAs? Thanks.

One more question, please. Very early versions of the D100 had a current limiting fault that John Atkinson noted in Stereophile. Later versions corrected this problem. Dusty Vawter, in a post on Audio Circle, says that the later corrected versions can be identified as follows: "The latest version has a total of eight screws on the rear heatsink." (see http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=21023.0) Can you please check whether you are selling the later version? Thanks again.

Hello guildenstern,
Sorry to tell you your timing is off by just a few days.  These amps were sold and shipped this past weekend to an Audiogon buyer.  Thanks for your interest.

To save us time wasted by opening your post, you should state SOLD in front of your post title.

The prefix for a For Sale ad is "FS: " (FS + colon + space) as in
FS: Brand X Amplifier

NOT

  FS - Brand X Amplifier
For Sale - Brand X Amplifier
Brand X Amplifier (omitting the prefix entirely)

The prefix for a sold item is "SOLD: " (SOLD + colon + space) as in
SOLD: Brand X Amplifier

NOT

  Sold - Brand X Amplifier
  ****SOLD! Brand X Amplifier SOLD!****
Brand X Amplifier (omitting the prefix entirely)

The ORIGINAL POST TITLE is the one that shows up in the lists, so the original post title is the one that must be modified.

Following format conventions in the subject title prefixes makes the lists more organized and easier to read.

Marking the ads sold (in the title, not in a new post) means that people don't have to open and scroll ads to find out they are sold, or in the even worse cases where there is no mention of the item having been sold at all, waste their time posting a question about an item that is no longer available.

Anyone can look at the Trading Post lists and see that the majority of members use the proper convention.  It's common sense and common courtesy.

There must be something I am missing. I attempted to modify the title to this ad earlier in the week.  I was unable to do so.  As a stop gap measure I listed SOLD in my most recent post.  I also would like to see SOLD listed in the title.  I believe this is a courtesy due our members and one I have appreciated in the past.  Even in this posting at this moment I still am unable to modify the title of this ad.  As I said, there must be something I am missing.  I would welcome advice as to how I can insert SOLD into the title of this listing.  Thanks for your help.

Hi,

I think in this particular case the length of the Subject title is longer than most and has reached its maximum length.  Try first deleting some characters and see if that lets you add SOLD to the beginning.

Edit:  Yes, I was also unable to mark the titles of my posts here SOLD until I deleted some characters)
