at the very end of the list he mentioned how "q-tips" could improve sound quality.  he made no mention of the "audiophile-grade quality" q-tips.
there's a difference.

the audiophile-grade quality q-tips are factory treated with a special, proprietary formula that's body heat activated.  the solution gently treats
the ear canal and actually improves on mother nature by filtering sibilance and other sound properties (which we would interpret as "noise") just before those sound properties can reach your ear drum.

and he just lists "q-tips."  and just throws that on the list as an aside.  hmm.

what serious music lover uses generic, off-the-shelf, regular q-tips?

maybe that's his problem.

He uses those long-stemmed ones, that don't allow for accumulation of that lovely brown stuff.

He pushes it completely out the other side of his head, and it lands in front of his speakers.

Everyone knows that you're not supposed to have anything between the frontline and the listening position!  :duh:

Thanks, Andy! The responses to the original thread were as entertaining as the article itself!

And in the author's own hand, in it's place of origin (did NOT know this previous to your claim, I lifted the story from somewhere else on the 'web!)? Priceless!

The Slim Devices audiophile forum used to be quite a lively place before Logitech dumped the SB Touch.

I remember one particularly funny thread when Sean was originally developing the Transporter.  One of the audio modders, now defunct, was advertising a new voltage regulator board for it.  Trouble was, this was before anybody had bought one, and Sean commented that there was only one in existence at the time, and it was on his bench!  :green:
