Ever wonder what to do with those left over tubes that blew up or the ones you never can find a use for...

1.  Tubes you will never use
2.  Scrape wood glued together and then cut to size on miter saw
3.  Drill out holes to fit selected tubes with spade bit
4.  Stain or paint to liking
5.  Glue in tubes
6.  Paper weight or conversation starter......  or deadly flying object

I like it, that's pretty cool.
There's a fella here who has an avatar that is small resistors attached in a way that looks like little stick figure people.
That's neat, and I'd love to do something like that, but never have enough leftover pieces to do anything with.
A fella could get pretty creative with old tubes in that same kind of fashion.

They'd look pretty cool on top of a miniature light house too.

Ya know....you could embed an LED light, and small battery pack inside the cavity of that wooden base and shine it up through the tube.

Hmm.....I've got some EL-34's and some spare LED bulbs.....hmmm......   :thumb:

That's a great idea! I could see these used as stylish night lights (with the use of a small incandescent bulb). I'd buy one for my 4 year old's room. You can never get them started too early.

Ya know.....Now that I think about this more, you wouldn't even have to wait for a tube to die, you could jet set it in the wood base without gluing it in. In that case, you could use any tube, working or not for the display.

Captainhemo

and you  could even  buy a couple cheap  sockets and mount them to the wood ,  would  kind of limit  what tubes you   displayed  but  you  could get a few differetn sockets.  Would give it  that " authentic"  look

Exactly. Put the LED right in the middle of the socket facing up, there you go.  :D

Question is, which color?
