Music Reference RM-9 MKI for $1829 plus shipping and if using paypal, please add 3%.
Wonderful sounding amp in excellent condition. THis amp has served me well but it has been used lightly the last few years in my second system and really deserves to be your main system amplifier. Cosmetically there is a light scuff on the edge of the chassis (see close up photos below) and conservatively a 8/10 rating. The amp comes with nearly new Electro Harmonix EL34 output tubes, the tube cage, power cord and owner's manual. The power switch was replaced with sturdier toggle switch.
This versatile amp can use a variety of output tubes but I just love the midrange of the EL34s. The amp will be carefully packed for shipping with plenty of packing material along with the manual. I will double box it so it arrives safely to you.
You will have to look long to find a better amp and this one has almost new output tubes, cage and owner's manual included. It has the better hand wound transformers that were all custom wound by the same tech.
Buyer to pay actual UPS or FEDEX insured shipping charges, no packing or handling fees. Payment via verified paypal or money order. USA SHIPPING DESTINATIONS ONLY.
Thank you for looking. Email is apt_one@yahoo.com, paypal add 3% or money order.
Additional Information:
The Music Reference RM-9 MKI is coveted by Audiophiles around the world because of its exceptional build quality, remarkable flexibility and superb sound. It is no wonder the demand for this amplifier far outstrips the supply. When one looks at this amplifier, both inside and out, it becomes obvious that Mr. Modjeski takes great pride in the products that bear his name. The RM-9 MKI is one of the most versatile amplifiers that you will ever have the pleasure of owning. This versatility stems from the fact that the amplifier can be voiced to meet the individual listening taste of its owner by using a myriad of tube types. You may use EL-34s, 6CA7s, KT 66s, KT 77s, KT 88s and 6550s. According to Mr. Modjeski, All tubes have an expected working life of 10,000 hours. If you like your music mellow with considerable midrange bloom and softer high frequencies, choose an EL 34 on the other hand if you want brute force in the base, powerful dynamic swings, and an increase in power choose the KT 88. Different brands within each tube type will produce additional possibilities within the musical palette to meet ones individual sonic preferences. If you are ready to enter the wonderful realm of tube electronics with a powerful, 100 WPC amplifier that will bring you many hours of non fatiguing musical enjoyment at a very low cost per hour this is the unit for you. A testament to its quality is underscored by the fact that these units are rarely seen on for sale and when they do appear tend to sell quickly. Roger Modjeski has stated that this is the best amplifier that he has ever produced but ceased production because it became cost prohibitive.
The Roger Modjeski all tube design is one of the classic tube amps of all time. Although it is a tube amp it is not afraid of any tricky speaker loads. Its hefty 100 WPC will drive virtually any load that you hook up to it. The binding posts have 4 and 8 ohm taps. The amp is outfitted with Ramm EL-34 output tubes which are an upgrade from the standard Chinese tubes. The driver tubes are very new, less than 60 hours. They are matched 6922?s. The V1 tubes, the more critical, are super low noise and the V2 low noise. The case is beautifully crafted out of oak. The top quality hand wound output transformers are massive and contribute to this unit's hefty weight.
