HI Chris,

Happened again today. Since I watched closely now, i noticed a bit more detail: A radio station was playing, since yesterday, And I wanted to load a new station. I have them saved as separate playlists, as per earlier described technique. The BDP actually loaded this new playlist, and the internet-stream seemed to work, showing some radio information. After a few seconds, the 'not connected to the server' message was shown in MPOD, and the unresponsive BDP was a fact.

Just now I tried the MAx interface with this result. before the page wouldn't load at all, this time it loaded but with an incomplete and 'undefined' result:
Hope this helps to solve the issue.
Thanks for trying...

fyi: it seems not to have anything to do with wireless bridges, of which I have a few in the house. I can walk around and connect to those on my iPhone/Ipad or laptop without an issue. Everytime the new wireless bridge is found, I (Mpod/Mpd/Max) see the BDP and can control it just fine.

Hi Marius,

This sounds like a known issue, we have a work around for it.  Start by going into the settings page found on the BDP's homepage, then select the MPD menu on the left.  Check "Enable MPD Watch, Apply and then restart, the BDP (MPD software) will continue to lockup; however the BDP will restart the service within 60 seconds of a lock up.... or should any ways.

Cheers,
Chris

Ok thanks Chris.
Hope this resolves the issue. And of course will let you know  :D

You mention a work around. Please could you explain what's happening and causing the error/issue? Will there be a software upgrade that kills the issue, and won't need a workaround in the first place in the near future?

Will there be any software upgrades coming soon, since we speak of it... Hoping to see the Airplay compatibility anytime soon indeed!

Seems that from what I've read that its external programs that screws things up at times and not the BDP,correct.
Hopefully I'm not missing anything as I finally have my BDP-2 just sitting in the rack lookin purdy.
Haven't listened to it as yet :duh:.

Can a person stream from my bdp-1 if they log into my IP address on firefox? In which case the connection is not always stable or I'm not playing the bdp. :?

Hi Mag,

The ability to do this is built into the software responsible for playback and we are looking into making it a feature in the next major release.

Cheers,
Chris

Hi Marius,

The playback portion of MPD crashes, we have been dealing with this since shortly after the BDP started shipping.  Each time we think we have it nailed down, a few months later people start reporting the issue again.  In the mean time the MPD watch option will actively monitor at back and restart MPD as needed.

Cheers,
Chris

Within the configuration setting there is an option to enable a watchdog for the MPD, which might be Chris's resolution to your problem if you leave the MPD on all the time.

Man did get that right lol --Jim

Hi JIm, you sure did. Sorry for misunderstanding you before, i thought you had me diving deep into the settings in BDP developer-mode/root...

been doing enough of that lately with the playlists.

Thanks in hindsight.... :duh:
