This month marks a year since I fell in love with Salk speakers at an audio event and placed my order that day upon hearing them. Your post reminds me of the time I waited for my speakers to be made. Oh the memories. Your wait will be worth it. Congrats

It's amazing how I'm almost emotional about it. It's been a long time coming as I've been researching, reading, listening and saving to have a proper 2 channel sound system in my living room. Without hearing these, I just know it's going to be awesome and after looking for years, it will be worth the wait.  I full, 100% trust in Salk and I feel like I'm becoming part of a family. Cheesey, I know. But it's true!

It's been about 20 years since I had my NAD and B&W's, but then I went through a world of hassle, divorce and stupid mistakes and had to sell everything. Now I'm at a place where I can rebuild!

After a ton of research, I decided that it would be better for me to invest in a small sound system that will mainly handle digital music. So, I went for the Peachtree Nova Pre and the 220 amp. That was a decision I made after considering another NAD. For the money (and it's still a lot for me) it seemed like I was getting more for less with the Peachtree: a bunch of digital inputs and a good DAC and plenty of power. After I bought those, it was time to find speakers.

I was JUST about to buy another pair of B&W's (CM5), but then I called a dealer and he talked me into floor standing. The cost of the CM line, as I moved up, was getting way out and away from my budget. Then I found Salk. With so many positive reviews (especially about the lower end) and the fact that I could actually choose the finish, it was a no-brainer. On top of that, when I called Salk I got the owner on the line and chatted with him. That was the deal-breaker. I went about $500 over budget and will have to eat mac and cheese for a while, but that's OK as it's going to be so worth it. I still have a pretty good wait, and I haven't heard any of the equipment I'm buying, but I think I made some great choices. I just hope everything will sound as good as I think it will.

Yesterday I received my Oppo 103, so not only can I watch perfect Blurays, but I can use it as a network player. Next is a NAS -maybe a Seagate Central- so I can easily access all my HiRez files and play them back with ease, without the need for any wires. All handled with the Plex server. Amazing. Today I went and bought an silly-huge TV (Not really a TV person) as an afterthought. Hey, I may as well have a TV between my sweet Songtowers, right? 50 inches is huge to me, but the picture is fantastic.

Now I wait. My Peachtrees sitting and collecting dust in the new cabinet. The Apple TV is set up and ready to stream MOG. The Oppo is configured and Plex is being filled with files from HD Downloads. The only thing I have to get are speaker cables. Jim suggested Bluejean, but the obsession is telling me I should spend more money! With all the investment, I'm thinking a few more hundred on decent cables would be in order, but I'm still not sure. Either way, my little mountain home is going to sound awesome.

Sorry for the babble, but I'm so excited. The days of playing an Ipod with a powered computer speaker are almost over.

Hi,

I read your post and I think you've made the right decision going with salk sound.  The tweeter is a very high quality dome and the midrange is of similiar quality and 40% of the cost of the speaker goes into the components and cover and you won't find that with other brands from dealers.

I received my salk sound ht3's a couple of weeks ago and this is my third purchase from Jim and I'm very happy with the sound quality, customer service and quality of the speaker.  I hope you like your new speakers when they are finished.

Regards Rod

Has anyone else noticed the similarity of the status bar to a cigarette, both in appearance and in the addiction to take another "hit" (i.e., refresh)?

Trying to patiently wait on mine as well...

Good catch. But the salks dont burn down as you finish them

It does leave a butt

A kick butt sound!

Hi,

The sealer stage seems to be the slowest part of the speaker building process.  I'm really happy for you and you won't be disappointed with you purchase.

Cheers Rod

ps.  Go with Jim's suggestion of purchasing Bluejeans cables.  I personally use signal cable in my system and mine is quite expensive.  Use the money you save to buy some good quality cd's such as jvc xrcd's.

Thanks, Rod. Yeah, it's been stuck on that sealer stage for a few days with a few more to go. Grrrrrr! (a happy "grrrrr"). I'm positive it will be worth the wait. Researching and reading forums is all I've been doing while I wait and I'm not sure if it helps, but it sure is fun!

Your system looks incredible. LOVE the finish on those Salks. Wow. I can only imagine how it sounds.

Have I mentioned how unbelievably nice everyone (well, most everyone) is in this community? Not only do I feel like I'm privileged to be a future Salk owner and a budding obsessive newbie audiophile, I feel gratitude for the information I get from these boards.

Thanks!

Hi,

I was that happy with Salk Sound speakers that on 3 separate occasions I had 2 pair of speakers and a subwoofer shipped from the US to Western Australia which is about 18 000 kilometres apart.  I'm pretty happy with my purchases.  Good luck I'm sure that you will be too.

Cheers Rod

Got a reply from Jim today (in the typical timely manner I might add) in regards to delivery before Thanksgiving. It looks like a longshot, but that's ok! The speakermeter reads "Sealer session 1" but I learned from Jim it's at "Sealer session 2"!!! So that's great news!

All good things......
