Sand and stain an option?
« on: 22 Sep 2013, 07:59 pm »
Is it possible/advisable to sand and stain a curly maple song tower to a darker wood stain?
I found a good set but it doesn't match our other furniture in our house.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Unless you are a true expert, I can't imagine it turning out anywhere near as nice as a new pair.  I would consider other options, such as waiting for the right pair, or having Jim do the refinish if the price is right on the used set.

Jeremy -

This is not at all difficult to do with the right equipment, materials and technique.  Almost impossible to get good results without them.  I would not advise trying it unless you have experience re-finishing furniture.

Sounds like this comment can be added to the "You just might be a Salk owner" thread.

"You buy new furniture to match the veneer of your new Salk speakers."
