A little advice/opinions please.
Got a chance to pick up one of these cheap >$300. Do I bother given the age? Anyone still using them?

Hi cbird, I have a ZR-1600, and it is a good pro amp. Not the end all be all in detail or resolution, but not bad. Lots of power, great control over the drivers, and a gain setting for each channel right on the front. As an audiofool amp, it falls just a little short imo, but ymmv. If you have a shop or garage system, the ZR-1600 would be great for that.

Hope this helps,
JCarney

Owned 2 of these, used the pair to drive Maggie 3.6's. Had one extensively upgraded, it fell way short of expectations even after the mods.

As an amp for HT, or a basement system, it's just fine. If I remember correctly it's XLR only, as with most proaudio gear.

Note also that this is NOT a Bob Carver amp in any way, shape or form. I'm sure you already knew that, but many people fall into the trap.

There's a review I wrote on the modified amp floating around the web somewhere, though you don't need to read that if you're looking for cheap and cheerful.

What would you think vs a Crown XTI 1000 for keyboards in a band?
I guess I'm just afflicted with G.A.S. and looking for justification. The price is low. Maybe just buy it and flip it if there's any market.
