Adcom GFP-750 Preamp Near Perfect Specimen - SOLD

Up for sale:  Adcom GFP-750 Preamp

Location:  Hinckley, Ohio

If you are looking at this, you probably know what it is.  I purchased this to pair with my NCore's but have come to the conclusion that I prefer the Bent TAP that I have on loan from Ted_b better.  I will probably just save up to buy a TAP-X kit from Bent Audio. ( at 3x's the cost!)

8/10 for age only - seriously, it looks and functions like new.  Designed by the famed Nelson Pass and made in America it has the coveted "blue circuit board".

This preamp is really a joy to use at its pricepoint.  You have the ability to run it single ended or balanced.  You can also run it as an active preamp or as a passive pre with the flick of a switch located on the front of the unit. It also comes with a full feature remote control.

The rear panel accommodates one pair of balanced XLR outputs and one balanced XLR input pair. It also features four additional RCA inputs, a processor loop on RCAs, two pairs of RCA outputs, and remote sensor and repeater jacks.

Listed are the specs:
Solid-state, remote-control preamplifier switchable to passive attenuator/switcher. Rated main output level: 1V. Frequency response: 5Hz-85kHz, ±0.5dB. S/N ratio: >102dB, A-weighted. Input sensitivity: 183mV balanced, 365mV unbalanced. Input impedance: 94k ohms balanced, 47k ohms unbalanced. Output impedance: 1200 ohms balanced, 600 ohms unbalanced.
Dimensions: 17" W by 4.25" H by 12" D. Weight: 15 lbs.

Thanks for looking,

Randy

A classic preamp!

Loved the passive/active switch. Nicely shows the difference in sound between passive and active preamps. In case you are on the fence or prefrer active for some music (to get that oomph) and passive for other music (to get that detail).

The GFP-750 does not have a phono stage.

What is does have is:
1.  Stereo/Reverse/Mono Switch which enables one to change the polarity of the input signal in realtion to the output signal.  In "Stereo" allows for normal playback of the input signal.  The "Reverse" setting inverts the phase of the input signal.
2.  Balance Control which provides finer balance adjustment
3.  Motorized Volume Control which may be adjusted by hand or by using the buttons on the remote control
4.  Balanced or unbalanced CD inputs (can use both balanced and unbalanced CD inputs at the same time)
5.  Gold Jumpers for the balanced inputs when using the unbalanced CD inputs
6.  Tape In/Out
7.  Processor in/out connectors allow for convenient connection of an external processor such as a surround receiver.  When the Processor feature is activated the external processor controls the volume and balance of the system.

Regards,

Randy
