Sennheiser HD598
« on: 22 Dec 2012, 03:01 am »
Just picked up some of these. They come with a detachable cord. Was wondering where I could pick up a higher grade quality replacement for the stock one. The catch is it only plugs into on side, not like the HD600s or higher models (two sides). Who makes a cord like this?

Hey guys can you describe the sound of those?? I've always been curious if they sound as good as they look, which is very cool. Do they have a balanced sound? How is the low end?? Thanks!!

I should have mine Monday. I do have a pair of HD515 and I've heard the HD600 and HD650. The Sennheiser sound is very natural, on the warm side, but detailed. Voices rock big time, the midrange is their signature, do not expect really low bass, but more of a tighter one. Highs are pretty smooth. Lots of good resolution, excellent soundstage wide and deep. I can wear them for hours on end with no problem.

I have them. Soundstage is great, easy to drive. Different sound from the rest of sennheiser line, sparky trebles and more forgiving with bad recordings. Been using them for some gaming  :D

I absolutely love my 598s. Highly recommended. Many qualities of my 600s at a lower price. I recommend an amp like the Schiit Asgard 2 if you cannot afford the Bottlehead Crack.

Don't you think its overkill amping the HD598? they are easy to drive, and there's not a huge diference when amped.

Amp all headphones.  All amps have a "Gain Control."

Thanks guys for the sound description and I also agree on using an amp whenever possible, I've always gotten better sound regardless of headphone variety with an amp of some sort. Enjoy!! :thumb:
