Quick-and-dirty cabinet for Tempesta kit
« on: 23 May 2013, 07:12 pm »
Would it work to use this Dayton cabinet with the Tempesta kit?

I want to build my own curve-sided cabinets, but I'm so backed up with home improvement projects this year that I can't sneak that cabinet build into my schedule for the foreseeable future.  As it is I'm already sneaking in a pair of subwoofer cabinets.  Machining the baffle and installing the kit parts I _can_ sneak in.

Also, is there a recommended height for the Tempestas?  Tweeter at ear level?

While I'm at it, is there any disadvantage installing the Tempesta kit into monitor-sized cabinets and placing them on top of a pair of subwoofers compared to installing the kit into floorstanding cabinets?

Yes, that's the cabinet you'll need. The vertical dispersion is very uniform so a stand from 18"-22" is fine. Using a subwoofer as a base is no problem.
