FS Technics SL-1700

Hi there,

I happened to see the table pictured at a yard sale and I decided to pick it up. I knew the reputation of a good Technics table from the 70s and 80s and I was sold instantly.

This one appears to be in good condition, the previous owner claimed to have let it sit for 20 years, and you can tell. The cover has scratches and scuffs that aren’t noticeable across the room, but obvious when changing a record. Likewise, the dustcover appears to have made small wear patterns on the table in the corners from being opened and closed. However, these aren’t terribly noticeable. Judge for yourself. The only major blemish on the table itself is below the tonearm...not really sure how that one happened. Going by the Audiogon grading system, I feel this table to be in good 7/10 condition.

Anyway, the table does play 33s at speed, and the cartridge that came with the table does a decent job; however, you’ll probably want to replace it with something like a grado reference series or similar.

Now the mystery. As you know, this table was originally capable of playing 33s and 45s; however, the knob on this table is stuck on the 33 setting. This may very well be an easy fix, but I never explored the matter since I only own 33s.

I’d like to get $200 for the Technics. I’m willing to ship anywhere in the continental US. I figure it will cost around $50 to ship, and I will cover that cost. I prefer to deal through PayPal.
