Rise of the Guardians

I finished construction of my basement recently, and last night had the first family movie night.

The girls and I watched the blu ray of Rise of the Guardians.

It was an entertaining romp, and did not scare either of mine too much (7 and 9).

It was my first TrueHD soundtrack, and I have to say that it was entertaining how they mixed the sound well.  There were moments the girls were looking around after voices were heard in a back corner etc.

There were excellent bass drops too.  In particular one near the end where a group of dino's is wandering through the scene.

Good family fun, and good sound to boot!

I didn't know Santa's brother was Boris Badenov.

I've had several types of home theater arrangements, but my favorite was my basement theater. It's just so much fun to have a dedicated space where you can set up a nice screen and just let it rip in terms of the audio. As much enjoyment as I get from my apartment rigs, my former basement theater still remains my favorite.

We enjoyed it too.  Some of the best times, family nights..  Really regardless whether the movie is good or bad.

So true...when you have a setup to enjoy, it really does result in the quality of the film itself being less of a factor. The experience is what matters most, and basement theaters are just plain fun to share with family and friends.

Watched the movie last night. Great flick. My nine year old girl was good with the action and didn't get scared.
Neat stuff. It was fun to see characters like Santa and Easter Bunny cast differently than the cliche belly laughing Saturday morning cartoon we usually see.
Fun movie indeed.

p.s. On a side note...I've just got my system back up and running and don't have things configured optimally yet.
For those of you that have seen it, were the LFE's there? I wasn't getting much and want to make sure it was the movie and not me.

I had much LFE fun with that movie.  The scene near the end when the sand dinosaurs were walking through had some serious bass drops.
