Hey All,

Does anyone know if the Sony AVD-S500ES and AVD-C700ES All-I-Ones are identical with the exception of the multi-disc changer in the 700?

I would greatly prefer the single disc version if it was sonically identical to the more expensive multi-disc version.

I have the prior edition, the AVD-S50ES.  The only differences that I know of, besides the multi-disk ability is:
1) the remote (I really dislike the 70 remote);
2) the 70 allows one component video in so you can connect your satellite/cable box and use the unit as a switch.
3) the 70 is rated a little higher (I believe 120/channel versus 100/channel).

Sonically the units sound the same to me.  I had the 70 and returned it to get the 50.  The Sony web site should list the details of the 500 versus 700.  Otherwise, check out Oade Brothers http://www.oade.com/Home_theater/sony/dvd/avd-c700es.html
