Watching the guy in front of me try to fit in AACenters tiny seats - PRICELESS

We totally enjoyed the show in spite of the poor acoustics.  S&G offered new arrangements on a few of their old tunes and vocally were quite good for guys that are probably in their early 60's.  I was concerned about Garfunkle making the trip on Bridge Over Troubled Water but the boys nailed it.  That song alone was worth the price of admission.

S&G opened the show with a few tunes then brought out the Everly Brothers.  They did about 4 tunes and yes, they are still the Everly Brothers.  Great job.  S&G then joined them for a tune and after that it was all S&G.

To Quote "ALICE'S RESTAURANT", that's not what I'm here to talk about.

Prior to it's opening, there was a tremendous amount of hype regarding the GREATNESS of American Airlines Center and while it is OK for sporting events (I've seen better the Shark Tank being a case in point) a CONCERT HALL IT AIN'T.

Dallas & Fort Worth do have some great venues for live music but AACenter isn't one of them.  It may fit the bill as far as capacity is concerned but the acustics are terrible & the seats are way undersized. Yes they do work for me at 5'5" and 145 pounds but the guy in front of me could BARELY SQUEEZE into his seat and after only a couple of tunes he was forced to find a place in the back where he could stand.

I've seen the Eagles and others there and am always amazed at how poor the acoustics are.  With that said, S&G was worth every penny and should they decide to return, so will I.

Where did you sit? I'm 6'3"-235...I attend dozens of NHL games at AAC each year seating is not a problem for me.

Second I have it on good authority that no less than Dr. Chris Jaffe did acoustics work on AAC........he did Bass Hall BTW. And myriad other places with great sound.

AAC is big...big spaces are always tough audiowise.

Section 118, Row 0, Seats 3 & 4.

EDS, glad you don't have a problem with the seating at AAC. I don't either.  At 6'3" 235 you probably wouldn't be considered over weight or large of butt.  The poor man in front of me was. While I understand the economics of the more seats the better, I feel that at those prices the guy in front of me should have been able to sit though the entire concert in comfort.

Bass Hall is indeed a beautiful theater and I've enjoyed each and every visit. Though I've never been to a concert at Bass Hall, my wife and I have attended many plays there.  Thus far we share the opinion that the acoustics are fine for a straight play (the players have always been miked) but the acoustics for musicals are average at best, and perhaps that's a bit kind.

We'll be at Bass Hall Sunday night for Diana Krall.  We've heard her at the Morton Meyerson which IMHO is about as good as it gets so I'll have a better opinion of Dr. Jaffe's abilities after Ms. Krall's show.

I totally agree.  Bass Hall is also very large and therefore a difficult undertaking.  Hell, maybe Dr. Jaffe's brillant and the acoustics at AAC are as good as they can be considering it's size.  Regardless, IMHO they certainly are far from good.  I'll continue to attend concerts at AAC for the live experience but I certainly won't use AAC as a reference for what music should sound like.

its the sound engineer for the show who has the biggest effect i think:o
went to toronto for a stones show few years back-sky dome- sound was horrible my friend saw them there the tour before and said the sound was very good, well we went to the syracuse show a few days latter at the dome and the sound was great, the tour before at the dome sounded like shit.pink floyd was there also that year and by far it was the best sounding concert ever given in syracuse, sounded like you were sitting in the middle of a cd(real bad seats also, top of the dome) a friend who worked concert security and is into music said it had to do with who was hired to do the sound set-up, he named off some guys that he said always set up a good sounding show, then named some who dont.

Point well taken.  While I did notice some echo from the back during the Eagles concert it wasn't nearly as bad as what I heard last night.  Again for the record, it was a treat to see S&G, they did a great job and I will return to AAC to see acts that perk my interest.

I saw them back here in Nov. at the San Jose HP Pavillion, aka the Shark Tank.

I think your review nailed it. S&G were great and "Bye Bye Love" w/ S&G and the Everlys was the highlight of the show.

Acoustics were poor at best though.

Overall a fun night
