The AK4396 dacs I have heard are very easy on the ears. The Dacports and the Audioengine both use this chip and are very similar. I expect the Schiit will sound akin to the Dacport at half the price. I really liked the Dacport LX. I would consider the 4396 a more 'musical' presentation than say the ODAC. Somewhere between the TDA1543 and the ES9023 that is now the FOTM (odac, dragonfly, etc). I am sure the Schiit will have it's fans.
