Hey!

Saw this in one of the free newspaper here in NYC...

 and this also...

It is sad. Although I haven't been there for a while but it is one of the record store that I like to stop by when I'm in the area. The first time I went there was back in the early '90s when I first got into vinyl.

I can tell you for sure that it is the rent in NYC that drive lots of unique Mom and Pop stores out. Well, look like there will another yogurt store... maybe Pinkberry, another Starbucks, another Chase Bank? Geez! Do we really need banks on every corners here in NYC?

Anyway, I will find time to go there one last time soon.  :(

Take care,
Buddy :thumb:

I don't know the place but will miss it anyway.  I imagine that the rent is so high in NYC, a speciality shop like this can't compete with the internet to the point where they can renew the lease.  Too bad the proprietor didn't own the space.  I hate this.  Tower Records closed long ago in Houston, Austin and New Orleans and they sold CD's.  What's next?  Department stores?  The times, they are achanging.  I went to a local upscale jeweler for a gift for my wife recently and found that I could buy the same item online for less than half.  But, that jewelry store had personalized service that you wouldn't believe and I'm in there wearing coveralls.  I'd love to give a record store a go in Houston tho I can imagine what the odds are.  But, I know how to market.  Been my stock and trade.  And, I know how to make a good impression when I want to.

I used to go there in the late 70s and early 80s. But I never much cared for it, lots of empty jackets and poured-over imperfect covers from what I remember. First place i saw with records behind the counter  Obviously could have changed over the years and I do mourn the loss of any record store nonetheless.

Haven't been there in a million years and Bob was kind of a jerk but he always had the latest English punk singles first. Claimed he flew to London once a month to get the product. Don't know if that was true or not but a cool story nonetheless.

I remember when he was raving about this new band that he just got the album for: The Sex Pistols. And the 45s had the small spindle hole. How neat was that.

And now it's gonna be a frozen yogurt shop. Long live rock n roll!
