Sealing box edges before paint?

Hi Guys
What have you found to be the best meathod of sealing butt joints for both MDF and Baltic Birch before taking the cabinet to the paint booth?

Body filler (Bondo) works quite well.

Bondo will just cover, not seal.  Seal first, use something like Lacquer Sanding Sealer.  It soaks in pretty well, and after 2-3 coats will make the MDF pretty much moisture proof.  After that skim coat with something like Bondo, or Marine Epoxy with a filleting filler, or fiberglass.

I believe it depends on the solvent that the paint uses. Mismatch sealant and paint and either the sealant won't seal or the paint won't adhere.

so find out the paint and primer...He is an amazing automotive custom painter so definately automotive.

West system epoxy with the 404 or 406 filler will fill all gaps/voids, seals and makes the joint rock solid, then finish off with bondo / filler glaze as needed. I get mine from Rockler.
