FS: Fostex FX 120 drivers [SOLD]
« on: 7 Mar 2013, 05:21 pm »
[SOLD]

For Sale: Pair of Fostex FX 120 drivers (unopened, original packing) for $150. Share shipping cost.
--------------
I have a pair of Fostex FX120 5" wideband drivers for sale. These drivers are untouched, unopened, and are in their original packaging. They have been sitting in my shelf since I bought them 3 years ago from Madisound. I had DIY plans (meant to build a pair of Fonken cabinets) but overestimated my DIY skills so am finally selling the drivers. They have been lying unopened in my shelf ever since.

I'm selling them for $150. I live in the Chicago area (Evanston) and will strongly prefer a local sale. However, I can also ship it anywhere in continental US (we can split shipping).

The drivers are well built - sturdy cast frame (machined aluminum) not stamped like most other drivers. They're also supposed to be very smooth sounding - smoother than many other Fostexes in the same class. These drivers are also  versatile and can be fitted into most types of cabinets. There are several cabinet designs published by the DIY community as well as by Fostex.

Bump: Reducing price to $140 for the pair. Any takers?

IMHO, this is a good price - these pair of drivers sells for $250 on Madisound, and I haven't even removed them from their original packing.

Link: http://www.madisoundspeakerstore.com/index.php?p=catalog&mode=search&search_str=Fostex+FX120+5

These drivers are built much better than the FE167 for example, and also have a higher xmax and a smoother curve.
They should work well in open baffle, bass reflex, and transmission line speakers.

Dave from Planet10 was also kind enough to share his Fonken design (dFonkenFX) for these speakers, and I think they will sound nice in them as well.

Not trying to make any money out of this, just trying to get back something of what I spent.

Thanks,
Arun

I'm going to try one last time before giving up.

Willing to let go of my pair of Fostex FX120 drivers for $100.

They retail for $250 a pair and I haven't even opened them from their original packing. They've been sitting in my shelf for 3 years though.

Hello,

You should try posting this on DIYAudio.com ... much more DIY people who would use this - I'm sure it would sell nearly immediately there.

cheers,
-Tal
