What's the general concensus about the above sub for OB duty?

Fs=19.5hz
Qts=0.47
Xmax=19mm

there about $170 including shipping.

Hey Trap,I built a real nice sub woofer with parts from Parts Express. My woofer was the first Titantic series. The cabinet I bought from them was rock solid,built like a Tiger tank. With any thing you buy from them, you get incredible help and speed,(shipping).I had to return the first cabinet because UPS dinged a corner. No squabble or loss of time, Parts Express had a new one out instantly. Once I bought a cheap multimeter from them. It looked like some oil or some thing leaked out on it. They said keep it and sent a new one out that day, you can't beat that! They will back anything they sell.....PS....I don't work for them and I'm not trying to,there just a great run company, my 2 cents....Mark K.

This is a fantastic automotive sub, the price is great, best alloy chassis there is.

For hi-fi use it may sound a bit raw, as the cone weight is hi Mms=280g
Definitelly not suited for OB due low Qts=0,47
Two 2 Ohms VC, 800Wrms and max nominal impedance=4 Ohms, low sensitivity=86dB and big magnet, confirm it need a very big amp to run this monster.
May be good for home theater, but the minimum power need will be hi due the huge nominal power=800Wrms + low sensitivity= 86dB.
A nice product for a low price.

I think this woofer is a terrifeic choice for OB. Given Specs are right there should be no problem.
You will have to measure. But if thats no business, just go.
You can take it to plain OB panels or in a H-baffle for instance EQ-ing it automatically.

I am going to have to go with Erling on this. If you use 2 on a flat panel make sure it has plenty of mass. You should be able to drive them fairly hard.

Actually I have considered a design with that driver. After considerations for my design the implementation of the 12” version looked like it “might” be a bit better. It really depends on what the design constraints for your project are.

Thanks for replying.

I think for now I'm going to skip OB for the lowest two octaves (use my present sealed 10" for below 100hz). I ran a little experiment with a couple of DA DCS255-4's (http://www.parts-express.com/term/dcs255-4?srch=dcs255+4) I had per the below picture and it just didn't cut it; spent a resonable amount of time eq'ing but just wasn't satisfying.

As I mentioned in the thread I started (http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=113832.0) this is my first OB speaker, running just a single unit in mono; so I think I'm going to put my efforts into building a pair using the present low and upper mid and the new B&G NEO3-PDRW's just purchased; when those are done I can easily experiment with different OB config's for the bottom end.

Best Regards, All
