Good luck in your search. I really love mine. It really showed up the SimAudio 5.3LP with the optional power supply when I listened to them head-to-head. They do show up used, and are worth it. Keep an eye on Music Direct too, in case they have demo units.

Thanks I read your posts, I am using a Denon Dl-S1 which
might not be a good match with the other phono pre I was
looking at on Agon, The AHT.

I do want to compare a higher quality pre to the Jasmine/Bobs
I am using now which does sound very good for the investment.

There is also the recently released one chassis Avid, at closer to $1000, and I think Music Direct had a demo unit. You might want to call them to see what they think about the differences. Chris at Music Direct has a lot of Avid pre experience there. He's who I would talk to. And they have their excellent 30 day return policy, if it doesn't work out.

Sorry I didn't see this sooner. I would have told you, the DL-S1 is not a good match with the AHT. Because of the AHT bandwidth, the relatively high inductance of the DL-S1 causes intermodulation distortion. The AHT isn't the only phono pre thus affected by the DL-S1. Although you can get incredible performance with conventional low output/impedance MCs with AHT, the DL-S1 has very high impedance/inductance for its very low output because of its air core coils.

At vinyl circle we'd be very interested in your experience with the Avid and SUT.
