Nice link, Laura. Journalism diehards call USA Today "McPaper," but this article hits the high points. Hard to believe that the top selling album is around 30,000 copies, though! Will have to look for that documentary on record stores, too...

Yup - read that earlier this week  :thumb:

My local record shop, Mill Valley Music's own Gary Scheuenstuhl quoted in it.....quite cool.  He was an employee of a famous record store that closed a few years ago (Village Music) and opened his own shop about 6 years ago.

Going was tough initially - the teething pains of any new business and then the home implosion circa 2007/08 affected his business. But, last time I had convo with him (a year ago) he said things were going well now.

A solid chap.  Nice to see him get some press here (tho they don't mention his shop - only the former one he worked at for 25 years)

OK, time to right some wrongs: http://www.millvalleymusic.com/

His former shop worked at owned by the famously cranky John Goddard: http://www.sfgate.com/movies/article/Gillian-Grisman-s-film-Village-Music-3922377.php
