speaker spikes for SongTowers
« on: 12 Feb 2013, 03:11 pm »
Hi all, did a quick search and didn't find anything definitive. I am looking for a set of 8 speaker spikes for my songtowers.  I don’t want to spend big money; $50 would be preferable, $100 max unless someone can explain why more is necessary. So what are people using?

I would like some that will pierce my carpet to couple to my concrete slab.

I’m not looking to add much height to the speakers but would like the height of the spikes to be adjustable so that I can level the speakers easily.
Thanks for any input, Garth

I Googled 1/4-20 speaker spikes and  http://www.musicdirect.com/p-58810-track-audio-speaker-spikes.aspx was right on top.
Extra pointy, and would penetrate carpeting better than the cones.  :thumb:

You have an unwanted period at the end of your link, so the page is not found.

Good call. I've used these guys a few times. Once for the protective disks to protect tile/wood floors. Good selection and fast service.

Hi Gang, thanks for the replies. I thought I would get a lot of responses recommending spikes that people have used and liked. Maybe most are happy with the ones that Jim provies.

While the ones on music direct look nice, they also look a little expensive. In addition, they are steel, which I think I remember reading was not as good a brass. Any thoughts? Otherwise, I will probably pick up eight spikes from the other site recommended.

thanks, Garth

I can't address your latest question, but I can say that Paul at Oregondv was good to deal with and can even make custom spikes if you need specific dimensions that they don't offer.

Here is the selection from Madisound:

I forget what size spikes came with the STs (I'm happy with mine), but the spikes that are 2.15" and 1.5" are 2-piece allowing more room for adjustment than the smaller 1-piece spikes.

I put Soundocity spikes on my Salk Heils to level my speakers on old wooden floors.  I like the way they look and make the speakers rock solid against movement.
